Texture
Once your baby is competent at taking food from a spoon, try rougher textures such as fork mashed vegetables and foods with soft lumps to encourage chewing. Babies can chew very well with their gums, even before they have teeth.
Once he is able to manage small lumps of food, offer pieces of steamed vegetables, soft fruit, cooked rice, cooked noodles, bread and cooked meat as finger food. Your baby might wear more of the food than he eats, but be patient as this is an important part of your baby's development.
Variation: If you wish to have a dip for baby, try plain yogurt.
