Pregnancy Confinement Family Weaning Kids Suggest a Recipe
Pear Rice

This weaning recipe can be done in a minute. All you need is a baby cereal and pureed pear from a bottle.
For babies between 4 to 6 months

1 tablespoon rice cereal
1 tablespoon pureed pear
Cooled boiled water or formula

1. Mix all together and you're done!

Starting To Wean
To begin introducing solids to baby, choose a convenient time of the day for the both of you. For convenience, most people start with a baby rice cereal. Rice cereal is particularly useful for those babies who might have an allergic reaction to wheat-based cereals. Start with rice cereal mixed with breast milk, formula or cool boiled water. Mix it until it is quite watery.
(Take note that if the rice cereal is mixed with breast milk it becomes very watery due to the enzymes present which start to break down the rice cereal structure).

The Milky Way
Try to give your baby half a teaspoon of cereal after the milk feed. Make sure that it is given from a spoon, not added to your baby's bottle. Even if your baby finishes it all, don't offer any more cereal. If your baby is younger than 6 months, solid foods are given for the taste and texture experience. It is important to remember that at this age, solid foods are given as well as milk and not instead of milk. Milk intake should still be about 1000 ml per day. Offer a little more cereal each day until your baby is used to it.

Variation: You can substitute the pear for apple, grapes, prunes or other pureed fruits you can find on the shelf.
