Fried Rice

Your growing baby needs to be introduced to a wide selection of foods. This fragrant fried rice would be tempting even for you.
For babies between 9 to 12 months

1 cup cooked rice
1/4 cup grated carrot
2 stalks sliced celery
2 eggs
1 teaspoon canola oil
1 tablespoon sweet corn
1 tablespoon peas
1/2 small onion
1 clove garlic

1. Add oil to non-stick pan.
2. Beat eggs and fry until golden.
3. Remove eggs from pan and cut into small squares.
4. Fry garlic and onion until tender.
5. Add peas, carrot, celery and sweetcorn and stir fry for 3 minutes.
6. Remove vegetable mixture from pan.
7. Add rice to pan and heat through.
8. Add vegetables back to rice and mix egg through.

Taste
Babies have 4 times the number of taste buds as adults, making their taste buds far more acute than adults. Adults may think that baby food tastes bland and feel they should add flavour enhancers to it. There is no need to add salt, sugar, margarine or oil to you baby's food. This is only encouraging the development of poor dietary habits.

Variation: If you wish to add meat to the fried rice, dice chicken or sausages into small bits and add it after frying the garlic and onion. Make sure that the chicken is tender enough for baby.
